Thursday, Feb 11th » Doors at 7:30 pm, $10. Modified Arts Performance Series
This months performance features Avant-garde jazz duo Chicago Underground Duo, consisting of Chad Taylor and Rob Mazurek. They've just released "Boca Negra", their 5th release of the critically acclaimed Chicago Underground Duo and 11th release by the Chicago Underground Collective. As with the previous four Duo records it contains both composed and improvised music. The recording contains powerful grooves along with ambient sound structures, folk song simplicity and polyrhythmic bursts of energy with lyrical melodic vignettes. It also combines high energy music with slow moving ballads. Ambient musician and composer Michael Krassner will also be there to provide in-between set atmosphere.
Doors open at 7:30 pm, the performance starts at 8 pm, and tickets are $10 at the door.
Modified Arts will partner with different local restaurants and bars each month to offer discounts and specials. This month we are partnering with:
The Lost Leaf (914 North 5th Street) - show your wrist band and receive $1 off any $4 beer or $2 off and $8+ beer.
The Modified Arts Performance series is a new monthly series that will showcase local and national musicians. These events will be curated by Associate Director, Adam Murray.
